Over this past weekend, Dr. McIntyre attended the annual Colorado Mission of Mercy (COMOM) event, held out in Henderson, CO. From their site:
The Colorado Mission of Mercy (COMOM) is a large-scale dental clinic that is held annually in a Colorado community. With 125 portable dental chairs, dental services are provided to adults, elderly, and children, who cannot afford dental care.
At this event dentists from across the Front Range area volunteered to help provide dental care to those who were in need. Over 200 dentists attended the two-day event.
“Although it was two days of long work it was extremely satisfying,” noted Dr. McIntyre. “Part of why I got into dental care was to add value to people’s lives by making a difference.” This weekend, Dr. McIntyre and team made a difference at the dental station named “Crown Town.” Using CEREC equipment, the team was able to provide high-quality porcelain crowns on the spot, to give full-service care at the event. “We had people who’d had problems for years. They’d come in, and leave with tears of gratitude,” McIntyre noted.
“In the beginning of my dental career, I donated time and effort to those in our community as a past dental director of the Peak Vista Community Health Dental Clinic, community nursing homes, and other similar organizations. This weekend brought a lot of those memories back. The patients were all so gracious, just like the patients I used to treat at the clinic.”
Ever the photographer, Dr McIntyre came away with several pictures of the event.
All in all, a great cause it worth participating in. We look forward to attending again in the future!
